What is a Nominee?
When looking at the list of directors at a company you may see actual company names listed instead of named individuals, those can appear many times in several companies. These board positions with a company name are referred to as Nominee Directors.
A company may purchase shares in a company which gives them the right to appoint a director to the board. In these cases, an individual, or nominee, will be appointed as a board member on behalf of the shareholding company. To show who the true owner of the board place is the controlling company will be listed as the appointed director in Companies House filing.
